Payment & Pricing
Our tours are already based on group pricing, so we do not provide an additional group discount.
We usually cycle with 8–14 people. We prefer not to have more than 15 guests. The minimum group size for public tours is 4 people — once that is reached, the tour will definitely go ahead. For private tours of 16 people or more, we often recommend splitting the group (using 2+ guides).
An experienced guide, a bike, and if necessary, a rain poncho (to borrow or buy) are included. Helmets are available but not mandatory. VAT is also included in the price.
You can pay on-site with cash, Bancontact, Visa, or Mastercard.
Bikes & equipment
Yes, e-bikes are available but must be reserved in advance.
Wearing a helmet is not mandatory in Belgium, but we do provide them for those who feel safer.
Helmets are available for free in various sizes, including for children. A helmet is only mandatory for school groups and E-bikes.
No, unfortunately we do not rent out bikes without a guide. We need our bikes for the guided tours. If you would like to use one of our e-bikes during a tour, please indicate this when booking.
Yes, as long as you are taller than 1.55 meters (approx. 61 inches). Otherwise, it becomes too difficult to ride the e-bike. E-bikes are not recommended for children under 15 years old.
No.
A bottle of water is always handy, and of course, comfortable cycling clothes.
Traditional ‘Dutch-style’ bikes made and produced in Belgium by Flanders (link maken). You sit comfortably upright, allowing you to cruise easily through the streets of Bruges. They are equipped with 7 gears and hand brakes. Our e-bikes make cycling even more comfortable.
We recommend comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement—special equipment is not necessary. It is, however, wise to be prepared for changeable weather: the climate is generally mild but can change quickly throughout the day. Additionally, there is often a cold breeze in the flat Flemish countryside.
In the low season, during the winter months, it’s best to also bring a warm hat and gloves or mittens.
During the tour
Bruges is very bike-friendly. During our guided tours, we avoid busy main roads and stick to quiet streets, bicycle boulevards, and the city’s green ramparts. Our guides select routes that ensure you experience Bruges in a safe and relaxed way.
Participation in the tours is at your own risk. We regularly check the condition of our bicycles. However, when you take over the bikes, you are required to check their roadworthiness and functionality. During the tours, you are responsible for your own traffic safety and for ensuring you are fit to participate in road traffic.
Yes, if you can ride a bike, it shouldn’t be a problem. We cycle along flat paths with little to no traffic. The tour is approximately 20 km. Flat also means it can be a bit windy. If in doubt, simply book an e-bike.
Tours usually go ahead even in unsettled weather. We provide free rain ponchos (made from eco-friendly material) for short showers, and we are flexible along the way (e.g., an undercover stop or a short cafe break). In the event of persistent rain, you can reschedule if you booked directly with us.
For bookings via platforms & OTAs (resellers), their specific terms and conditions apply.
Most public city tours last 2.5 hours. We spend about half the time cycling, while the other half is for stops, stories, and taking it all in. For private tours, we agree on the duration together.
The countryside tours last 3 or 4 hours. These cover more distance and focus more on cycling than on history. We always take a 20-minute break during the countryside tours.
Small items can be placed in a bag on the bike (water, jacket, camera). Larger suitcases or purchases can be left at our office during opening hours.
Children & families
Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren’t. If they are at least 10 years old, can cycle well, and feel comfortable cycling in traffic, then yes. The management or the guide makes the final decision on whether a child can cycle with the group. Adults are responsible for children and their safety at all times. To ensure your young child can participate in a bike tour through Bruges, it is best to book a private tour for your family (all ages are welcome on private tours and we have a range of bikes to suit everyone).
Children’s bikes and seats must be reserved in advance.
About Quasimundo
Because you don’t just want to tick Bruges off your list… you want to truly experience it.
We’ve been doing this since 2002 — and it shows. No standard loop past the highlights, but a clever mix of iconic spots and hidden corners you’d otherwise never find.
Our guides aren’t walking encyclopedias, but local storytellers who bring Bruges to life. You’ll enjoy a relaxed ride in a small group, at just the right pace — with plenty of room for humor, stories, and unexpected stops.
A bike tour is also the best way to discover a city: you move around easily, see more, and experience everything up close.
No. We know Bruges best. That is why we only provide tours in this city and the Bruges Ommeland.
However, for bike tours worldwide in our partner cities, you can visit https://www.cyclecities.tours/
Booking & reservations
On a public tour, you cycle with a small group of other guests – you’ll get to know new people and often pick up surprisingly many extra tips.
If you choose a private tour, we tailor everything to you: the pace, route, and breaks, and we can even make it extra child-friendly. Plus, you decide on the date and start time yourself.
Yes. You can indicate this when booking. Important: your bike must be roadworthy. Quasimundo Biketours is not a repair service for bikes brought by participants.
Changes are free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour. For later changes or cancellations, the full amount will be charged.
You can adjust the number of participants free of charge up to 48 hours before the tour. After that, the full amount will be charged.
We recommend booking in advance via the website. This allows us to provide the right number of guides. As long as there is availability, you can book public tours online up to 60 minutes in advance. Is it even shorter notice? Give us a call: +32 50330775. You can check availability in the public tour calendar.
Absolutely. And we know what we’re talking about: as the pioneers of bike tours in the city, we have been guiding visitors through Bruges since 2002.
Leave the busy, well-trodden paths behind and hop on a bike. As you glide effortlessly through the city, you will discover not only the highlights but also hidden alleys and quiet spots that most visitors never see. You’ll hear the stories behind the facades, get to know your guide, and share the experience with other travelers — relaxed, personal, and just that little bit different.
And then there is the countryside: a landscape that begs to be explored by bike. Think of winding roads, open fields, and endless rows of poplars rustling gently in the wind. Here you feel the rhythm of the region — and you only truly experience that on a bike.
Please arrive 10–15 minutes before the start. This allows enough time for check-in and choosing the right bike. Families with small children should ideally arrive a bit earlier. We want the tours to depart punctually
and avoid waiting for latecomers.
If you love history and the city, the Bruges Highlights tour is perfect for you.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy peace, nature, and beautiful vistas, then choose the Countryside and Damme tour.
Our shop is a 5-minute walk from the market square in Bruges. We want to keep our ecological footprint as small as possible, so we always start and end at the shop.
